Another two weeks

The last two weeks have been at warp speed....so much to get done, so much to enjoy....It seems like forever since the Astros won the World Series - but yet...it was just last week.  It's that time of the year when we try to do so much in such little time.  And Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

Last week, Rummel Creek was fortunate to be part of the Barbara Bush Foundation Initiative My Home Library. Every student was able to select 6 new books to take home.  This initiative was part of a Harvey relief program.  The students loved being able to select books.  I've never seen so many smiles!

Thank you notes have been mailed to Holland Elementary in Holland, PA, Dollar General, Phillips 66, and Barbara Bush Foundation.  Our students are so fortunate to receive so many books to keep us all reading and learning.

Last Friday, students were able to watch the World Series parade in their classrooms just before dismissal.  That way - most were able to see the World Series Astros AND attend the fabulous Fall Festival.  The children appeared to be having fun and the food was of course delicious.  Big winners this year were the goldfish!  Satellite Pizza!  Cake Walk! Lazer Tag!  Oh my, and of course the Boosterthon staff manned the music.  So much fun.  Students were thrilled to see the jail back in place!  And who knew that students would pay tickets to play on the playground equipment.   It was a great afternoon for friends and fun!  One of the best things about Fall Festival is having former students dropping by to visit.  It's always fun to find out what students have accomplished after they leave RCE!  I think the neighborhood needed a little fun after Harvey.  Great Event!

This week the students settled down to learning.  So much to accomplish in so little time.  One more week and then it's Thanksgiving Break.

Kindergarten is putting on the final touches for their Thanksgiving program.  Fourth Grade is diligently working to perfect the Nutcracker.  Students are reading, writing and doing math.  Fifth-grade Hands-on Science was Friday.....always a fun event.

After Thanksgiving is Book Fair - this year it will be shorter fair  - Thursday night is the late night with the choir giving a short performance.

My how this semester is flying by.  It seems like only yesterday school was starting.

In this season of Thanksgiving, take a little time to think about the blessings you have received this year.  It has been a year of ups and downs but no matter how tough...we are #RCESTRONG!
