Rummel Creek Rescue Dogs in The School Zone

Check out Rummel Creek in the district's School Zone!

On Oct. 28, several hundred Rummel Creek Elementary School students learned how rescue dogs Lizzie, Scout and Guthrie had survived, and how their personal stories and interaction with the families that adopted them, have changed all who have become involved with them ever after.

Reflections Contest

October is upon us, so it's time to think about the PTA Reflections Contest.  This is a wonderful opportunity for students to share their talents in music, art, writing and dance.  Check out the RCE PTA Website for details and forms.  The Due Date to RCE is October 24th.  (What are you doing on the school holiday October 13th....sounds like a great day to work on Reflections!)  Judging begins at RCE, and some students will move on to District Judging.  In past years, we've had students move to the state level.  What a great way to encourage students to share their love of the arts! (And their talents!)  Watch this animoto with information about this year's theme:  The World Would be a better place if....
I can't wait to see what students will do with this theme...it's a great theme!  So why are you still reading....let's see your photos, music compositions, dance and writing...I'm sure there is something you'd like to try!  Good luck on your entries!

KRCE - Student Broadcast

Our studio may be down for the months that we are at the transition campus, but the students are still learning how to make movies, work together as a team, and write scripts for a "show".  It just looks a little different this year.
Here is our September KRCE Crew.  They meet during lunch and recess on Tuesdays.  Currently they are working on videos for playground safety, procedures in the cafeteria, and general procedures around the school.
Each morning, two of the KRCE Crew do the morning announcements on the PA system.  They rotate during the week.  We are learning how to speak SLOWLY!
If you would like to keep up with our KRCE "On Demand," check out our website:  https://sites.google.com/a/springbranchisd.com/krce/   We are learning how to share our "fun" announcements in creative ways.  We're learning we can share more through the KRCE WebPage!

Half Way Through the First Week

It's mid morning on the third day of school, half way through the first week.  Students are beginning to know their way around our transition campus.  You see confident students getting from one place to another around the school.  The schedules are working and announcements started just after 8:15 today.  Looks like we are settled in for the year.  Students are riding the bus to and from school.  It's a wonderful sight to see the buses pull in full of smiling faces each morning.  Every day we have a few more students riding the big yellow buses.

Circulation has begun in the Library Learning Commons as well.  We are glad to see students filing in to our space to check out books.  Reading will be our focus for the year!

All in all this has been a great beginning at the Transition Campus otherwise known as RCE!  It looks like it will be a GREAT year!

Meet the teacher

We had a fabulous meet the teacher event on Friday.  It was so nice to see new families, returning families, and former students who just had to check out the new location!  In general, everyone was able to locate their teacher's classroom and get where they needed to go.  Hopefully Monday morning will go smoothly. We're looking forward to the first day!

After "Meet the Teacher", the PTA hosted a delightful tasty lunch for staff members!  Thank you PTA!

As the song says...It's gonna be a great great year!......See you on Monday!
