It's A STAAR Week!

This week was STAAR testing for 4th and 5th grades.  It went smoothly.  Students in grades not tested did a MARVELOUS job of walking around the school in silence.  Glad the first round of STAAR is OVER!

A note of happiness - the Library received its first shipment of new chairs for the students. The chairs were barely out of the boxes before the students wanted to sit in them.  Thank you PTA for making the chairs a reality!  Life is good.

Spirit Stick this week goes to Mrs. Mitchell's Kindergarden class.  They have been working so hard to follow directions.  Congratulations!

Lots of fun at school this week with field trips, auction parties, parents visiting for lunch and more.

Parents:  don't forget to check lost and found again.  With the quick chill in the mornings, we have had a lot of jackets left behind!

Have a great weekend - enjoy this beautiful weather!

A little slow start this week.....but we ended with a bang!

It's always a little slow getting back after Spring Break.  It seems that we all get away.....decide to sleep late ....stay up late....and then....oh my, it's not summer - it was just Spring Break and we must return back to school!

Monday morning came early.  The car rider lane was full and students were coming in late.  One of the KRCE students made it on time, but had been on the plane early that morning!  What a way to start the week.  Students came in and shared all of their exciting adventures - I think tons of our students were skiing in Colorado!  If they weren't skiing - they were enjoying the Rodeo right here in Houston!

Very quickly, the students returned to their routines....it didn't take long for the students to realize that they still had 9 more weeks of school before summer!  Homework, Rockin' Roadrunners, Choir, Chess, and afterschool activities were back in full form!  Next week.....the STAAR test!

Student Council students are busy working on projects to bring cheer to the teachers at Sherwood.

This week the winner of the Spirit Stick is Ms. Ramey's First Grade Class for STRONG IMPROVEMENT.  Way to go Ms. Ramey's class!

Friday morning was also the PreK Art Car Parade - so much fun seeing the creations the PreK students made.  Everyone in the whole school was out in the hallways to see this year's cars!

March Book Madness at Rummel Creek Elementary is in full swing.  Students are voting on their favorite books each week to see which Fiction book and Everybody Book is the final winner.  Voting results from this week will be posted in the windows of the library by Monday afternoon!  It's been fun seeing the results!  (And students are reading more books from the list!)

Thank you PTA for our new chairs in the library!  As one of the fourth graders commented this week:  "You've been upgraded in the library with these chairs."

Have a great weekend!

Friday Before Spring Break

You can feel it in the air!  Students are ready for a week away from school.  I think staff members are also ready for a week of rest and relaxation.

But before we take off for a week of fun, its time to share some videos and photos of activities that have been going on at RCE.

Going back to mid-February:
Author Jerry Pallotta visited Rummel Creek.  Here's a video from his visit.
100's day at RCE.  Here is a video from that event.
PreK Rodeo.  Here's a video from that event.

Healthy Lifestyles Challenge.  RCE had students working hard eating healthy, exercising, and doing all kinds of healthy activities.  Some students have even signed up for a Triathalon.  Second-grade students and Tech Team created videos for the Healthy Lifestyle Challenges.   Enjoy those videos by clicking on these links.  (Second Grade) (Tech Team Healthy Videos)

This past week we had Bluebonnet Celebrations.  Students had fun exploring the MakerSpaces.
Here's a short clip of some of the students.

March Book Madness is going on in the library.  More than 400 students voted for their favorite titles in the first round.  After Spring Break, we'll be ready for Round Two on our way to the Picture Book and Chapter Book winners.

Have a wonderful Spring Break!

Soo much to say, so little time

This week we'll just have a summary of what is going on at the Creek.  We'll write a longer one next week!

Spirit Stick was won by Ms. Gandolfo's class.  Way to go!

We've been talking about Healthy Lifestyles.

Practice STAAR for grades 3, 4 & 5 went smoothly.

More next week!
Happy Friday.
