It was a STAAR Week!

Rummel Creek Roadrunners did their B*E*S*T this week with STAAR! Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade students worked hard on the STAAR test, while Prek, Kinder, First and Second Grade worked hard to move through the halls quietly.  It was a grand success!  (But so glad it's over!)

A little excitement this week - Student Treasures showed up 3 weeks early - such excitement!  The books, written by RCE students, are beautiful.  As we unpacked them in the library - we oohed and aahed  - they are positively beautiful.  The First Graders have unbelievable handwriting. The stories and illustrations are precious.  The students can't wait for them to be sent home!

Mrs. Hiner's First Grade class received the Spirit Stick this week.  Congratulations to you all!

Tonight we will have the First Annual Watch Dog Movie Night.  Hope to see you there.  This year has been so much fun with the Dad's on campus.  No Watch Dogs this week because of STAAR....but I see that the list is full for next week.

Next week is Book Fair - Tues - Friday AM - (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - 7:30 - 3:00, Friday 7:30 - 9:00)  This is a buy one book, get one book free fair- so look for your summer reading titles.

Book Swap is the following week - bring your gently used and read books and exchange them for other students' gently used and read books.  Bring your books to the Library on Monday 22 - Wednesday 24th.  Shopping with the tickets will happen May 25th through the end of the school year.
The Book Swap will only be open from 7:30 - 8:30 and 2:00 - 3:00 (Student Council is sponsoring the Book Swap!)

We're also in the middle of our used school supply drive - boxes are in the library to collect markers, scissors, rulers, paper, half bottles of glue, broken crayons and more....these are sent to schools in SBISD who desperately need materials, or apartments in the SBISD for summer projects.  Last year we provided paper and pencil to  Landrum Middle School - the teachers were thrilled with the box of used pencils and "left over" notebook paper.  (Student Council is sponsoring the Gently Used School Supply Drive!)

The May 24, 25 and the last week of school are also Summer Book Check Out.  Parents may come to the library to check out books for your children over the summer.  We will provide you with a list of what you take home - books need to be returned in August at Meet the Teacher or by the end of the first week of school.

It's hard to believe we are in the countdown for this year!
