Thank you PTA for the new ChromeBook carts for grades 4 and 5. The students are so excited. Lessons began this week for the students so that they can take care and use the ChromeBooks for many years in the future.
It was a short week, but we gave out the Spirit Stick to Ms. Hansen's PreK classroom. They have been working so hard to walk in the hallways quietly! Congratulations, Ms. Hansen's Class.

Student Council members Jack and Kate Lovoi were able to go to Martha's Kitchen and give out the gift bags RCE students provided. Below is an essay written by Jack.
The Blessing at Martha's Kitchen
That phone called changed lives and my life.
I had called my Grandma and asked her, "Don't you work a a soup kitchen?" She said yes. I proposed my idea to our student council at a meeting the next day. We assigned goods to grades and organized a competition. We broadcasted it over the announcements the next morning. We whipped up some posters and got it going. The supplies were pouring in by the hundreds. After about a month, it was packing day. We got of the supplies organized and took a count. Last minute, a girl brought in four boxes of deodorant. Now it was packing time! We packed bags and put them on shelves. We tied ribbons and all was going well. Right when we tied the last ribbon, we quickly ran into a problem. We had a shortage on boxes. Another student council member and I ran around the school desperately looking for any source of packaging. We got enough. We packed about two thirds of the boxes into cars, but were short one vehicle. My mother called another mom and we got the boxes loaded.
That next Tuesday we were supposed to go to Martha's Kitchen in downtown Houston. We unloaded the boxes of bags into the storage room then transported them into the dining room and sorted them by gender and need. When we started handing them out, most of the people were crying and were really happy. I was about crying too. This was a blessing for me and for them. You could imagine about a kid entering a ride at Disney World, excited out of their mind. THAT WAS THE INTENSITY FOR THE BAGS!
I would like to thank the student council, Heroes and GAP programs.
