It's December!

Oh my, Rummel Creek Roadrunners are rolling fast.  We hit the ground after Thanksgiving moving fast (I guess a little restful holiday fueled the students!)

Tuesday was Giving Tuesday.  Rummel Creek Elementary selected the Spring Branch Education Foundation as the recipient of the funds collected.  Students were able to wear a hat on Tuesday if they brought at least one dollar to donate to the Education Foundation.  Rummel Creek has been the recipient of several grants and programs provided over the years, so it was great to give back to the SBISD Education Foundation to continue to support Spring Branch schools.  Put this on your calendar, it will most likely be an annual event!

Tuesday Night was the Nutcracker.  Another FIRST in the new building!  The parents worked hard with the students in dancing and decorating the cafeteria.  Thank your 4th grade moms!  Ms. Aldrup and Ms. Skagg put every effort in to making this the BEST Nutcracker ever.

Next year's 4th grade will have to work really hard to top the performances this year!

With December comes Hour of Code - Throughout the school, students are coding and learning about the importance of coding.  In the Library - students have been able to explore with spheros and ozobots.  It's exciting to see the students learn about coding!

Parents, feel free to drop by the library to explore our world of coding, MakerSpaces and more.  The students at RCE are ready to share their knowledge.

Fifth Grade Student Council is busy collecting the items for our bags of toiletries for Martha's Kitchen.  They have kept the piles organized and ready to go.  All of the students at RCE have participated either by bringing items or decorating the bags for the homeless.  I can't wait to see the bags all filled in the library.  (Check back next week - we pack the bags on Thursday!)

Watch the video the fifth graders made one day during recess:  Martha's Kitchen Video
We are still in need of wet wipes (boxes of singles), deodorant, and shaving cream.  Hotel Samples are also in need.   Thank you for supporting Fifth Grade Student Council.  The students really have a heart to serve others!

Ms. House's class won the Spirit Stick this week.  The word for December is INTEGRITY!

The Rockin' Roadrunners are ready for their road trip to Galveston.  The fifth grade students will be performing for the Texas Health Fitness Teacher group.  Way to go Roadrunners!

The teachers at RCE are getting in the Christmas spirit.  This year we have a door decoration contest - here are a few of the doors - note- many are not yet complete.....more photos next week.  Can you find your child's classroom?  Many of the doors have student work on them.

It's been a long week, filled with learning, laughter, and loving others.  Looking forward to the next two weeks before the Christmas break.  So much to do...so little time!
