It's the week before Spring Break!

Oh my, how busy can this week be?  Last night first grade shared a delightful play called "How Does Your Garden Grow?"  It was enjoyed by students on Monday and Tuesday during the day and by parents, friends and community last night.  The children did a really great job!  Congratulations First Grade!

Then if a play is not enough, we are working on the tiles for an art installation at the new building in Art class.  Again, the students are focused and doing a great job of making their tiles.  Must have the tiles painted before Spring Break!  Excited about doing projects for the new school!

Friday is Donuts with Dad and Field Day. ( Pictures to be posted later. ) These are both annual events that students look forward to every year.  Hope the fields are dry enough for Field Day.  Fun Fun Fun for everyone!

One class dropped into the library to learn about accessing e-books so they can read on the go over Spring Break.  Especially on the transition campus, e-books are a great way to provide books with little storage.  Most of the students at RCE have access to devices, so we work at school to connect personal devices to the e-books for easy reading at home.

Count Down to Spring Break has begun....think we all will be ready for a little rest and relaxation.

RCE Odyssey Teams to compete on Saturday, March 7th.

Odyssey of the Mind

The Houston Region Odyssey of the Mind tournament is this Saturday, March 7th. Please come to Paul Revere Middle School and support the Rummel Creek teams. Parking will be tight, so please plan on coming early.  Also be aware that most problem and divisions are being held in multiple areas, the elementary Division I teams are in either "RED" or "WHITE" venues.  Please make note of the proper location for each team to make sure you go to the right spot.

Problem 3: Pandora's Box

In this classics problem, teams will put a video game spin on the story of Pandora’s Box. A gamer character will take on this multi-level game inspired by the Greek myth. The game will include a prologue that depicts the original story of Pandora’s Box, three characters representing different evils that escaped the box, and a power meter that represents the gamer character’s health. To beat the game, the player will advance to the final level where it will release hope into the world.

The team solving Problem 3 are 5th graders Elijah McCorkle, and Alex Zhang,  4th graders Phoenix Nguyen, and Kari and Ingrid Marques. Coached by Nikki McCorkle.  They will be performing their long term problem at 1:00pm in Problem 3, Division I's RED Venue at Walnut Bend Elem. (Note- there is no parking at Walnut Bend, you must park at Paul Revere and walk next door to Walnut Bend.)

Problem 5: The Silent Movie

Lights, camera...action! In this problem teams will create and present a performance depicting a Director character that produces and presents a silent movie featuring a humorous villain character that commits three silly acts of “villainy”. Characters that are in the movie may not speak as part of the presentation of the movie. Instead, like classic silent films, the team will use music played on a team-created instrument and creatively displayed subtitles to convey its story to the audience and judges. Also, teams will use a signal to indicate when the movie begins and ends.

The team solving Problem 5 are 5th graders Kinara Thaker, Kimi Morita, Emi Lees, Olivia Maranto, and Murphey Durboraw. Coached by Beth Otillar.  They will be performing their long term problem at 9:00am in Problem 5, Division I's
